The Nesconset Huskies are the newest and most dedicated travel team to hit Long
Island. We will be playing our 2008 Spring, Summer, and Fall(TBD) at Long
Island's most professional baseball facility,
Baseball Heaven. Our mission
is to further our children's talent with an emphasis on fundamental baseball,
sportsmanship, respect, and team play. Our goal is to further these
children both as athletes and as human beings.
Our team rules are simple:
1) You must have fun. This is the main reason all children should be
playing sports. If the game becomes a chore, there is no good reason to
play.
2) Respect must be shown for all (this includes your teammates and opponents,
your coaches and opponents coaches, umpires, spectators, and anyone else).
Arguing with the umpire or anyone else will not be tolerated. It is the
coaches job to discuss calls with the umpire, period.
3) Profanity (cursing) of any kind will not be tolerated.
4) Punctuality is key. Showing up 10 minutes before the game and
expecting to play will make you one disappointed player.
5) Keep your head in the game. Do not become down on yourself or
others. You will strikeout and make errors. Pitchers will walk
batters, give up hits, and occasionally hit a batter. This is part of the game.
A good player does not get down on himself or cry when he makes a mistake.
The best way to deal with a mistake is to learn from it and turn it into a
positive the next time around.
6) Crying - unless you are injured, the tears should not come out.
Again, see #5.
7) Team Play - THERE IS NO I IN TEAM (I am sure you have seen this 10 million
times, but it pretty much sums it up)
8) Follow your coaches instructions. If a coach gives you a sign, it is for a
reason. The best way to land on the bench is to deliberately ignore a
sign.
9) Dedication - if there is some reason you will miss a game, please give us
ample time to prepare for this. Practices are mandatory unless otherwise noted.
Playing time will be affected by attendance.
We are here to Have Fun, Grow as players, as people, and as a team,
and to Win Games....
Thank You.
